The MTL MTL831C Multiplexer Controller is a high-performance, cost-effective analog input multiplexer belonging to Eaton MTL's MTL830C series. As a key component of this series, the MTL831C is specifically designed to safely and reliably transmit multiple temperature and other analog signals from hazardous areas to safe areas. The MTL831C multiplexer controller flexibly accepts signals from thermocouples (THC), millivolt sources (mV), 2/3/4-wire resistance temperature detectors (RTD), and potentiometers. A single MTL831C unit can accommodate up to 16 mixed-type inputs. Its core value lies in simultaneously transmitting signals and power over a single shielded twisted pair (data highway), significantly simplifying hazardous area wiring and reducing installation costs, particularly in Zone 0 hazardous area applications. When paired with the MTL838C receiver in the safe area, the MTL831C converts multiple analog inputs into standard Modbus RTU or Honeywell LLMUX protocol outputs, facilitating integration with various PLC, DCS, or PC control systems.
